How does one become a victim? What is the life of a victim?
Most people become a victim because they are falsely promised, forced, or trapped into being a victim. Once you are a victim, you live a life of abuse and betrayal. Some traffickers
force their slaves into war and compel them to kill. Some victims are sold into
prostitution and are obliged to commit sex acts to create pornography. Some
slaves are forced into involuntary servitude and must work day and night for no
money. In every case, the victims are beaten and treated with violence. Often
times, victims of trafficking are scared to get help or report crimes because
they are afraid that their families or they themselves will be hurt or
deported. When victims are finally released or escape, they have no money and
they are at a higher risk for certain health issues, including sexually
transmitted diseases, bruising, broken bones and other physical injuries,
cancer, heart disease, and stress or psychological disorders. Human trafficking
is cruel and inhumane; once you are a victim your life will never be the same.
